We are glad we came out of it okay here in the village despite the flood
alerts we received but we had a busy night and morning helping neighbours
clear up a lot of mess. Gill

1st January 2018

From the three of us here a very

“ Happy New Year “

to all our forum members and your families also to all our friends and viewers
of our forum and we hope you all had a very happy and joyful Christmas with
your families and friends we did here.

Now it has been a very topsy turvy year here for the three of us with all sorts
of health issues to fight with firstly Charlotte spending part of her University
Summer break in and out of hospital for blood transfusions and lots of tests
and it has put a lot of strain on her during her first term at the start of her
2nd year in University but she has coped well with all the stress of it all anyway
we now know for definite that she suffers from “ Ulcerative Colitis “ in her
her colon but with the help of her hospital consultant we now have a plan for
the next three years and that includes a monthly injection over the next three
years and some different types of medication and hopefully that will fix the
issue once and for all and both Mo and I are so proud of how she has coped
with the distress of it all and on the 6th of January she goes back to University
for her next term and is looking forward to it all bless her.

Well now it’s Mo’s turn and he apologises for his lack of input to the forum
but he has had some health issues of his own to deal with which are all sorted
out apart from one ongoing issue now just lots of medication to take to keep
certain things under control but he manages it all quite well and with his 65th
birthday coming up we are trying to keep him calm about it all well to him it is
a landmark birthday plus he had major worries recently when his older brother
Roy ( 79 ) was taken seriously ill with what turned out to be severe pneumonia
and we nearly lost him but after a long stay in hospital with great care is now
home and well on the way to full health again so between Charlotte and Roy
it has cost Mo a lot of worry and myself as well but overall Mo is getting better
and more his old self and as in the past will bounce back as he is a very strong
willed person.

Finally it’s my turn now and it has been a very busy time as always firstly my
only health issue thankfully was I took a fall and badly ripped open the tendon
in my upper left arm and it put me off work for just over 8 weeks and with lots
of physiotherapy and exercises it got a lot better and I returned to work but still
get the odd twinge in it but I live with it. One really sad piece of family news
some of you may know that my last Aunt on my side in Harlech who we helped
celebrate her 100th birthday back in September well sadly at the beginning of
December she passed away so we had a funeral to cope with just before Christmas
but thankfully that all went well and she was given a great send off bless her.

Now my final bit of good news dear friends on the night of the 14th of December
I went into work on my final night shift and on the morning of the 15th I left my
hospital for the last time and after nearly 40 years working for the National Health
Service I officially retired from my profession as a Senior Clinical Nurse and now can
look forward to enjoying the rest of my life. It was a busy last night shift but I was so
spoilt by everyone else on duty that night and even off duty colleagues who called in
to wish me well sharing nice food when we had a chance and I was presented with a
wonderful cake by the staff of one of the wards plus loads of retirement cards and letters
with wonderful messages along with some nice gifts and lots of bouquets of flowers and
when I got home it took Mo nearly half an hour to unload the car but it was nice to be
appreciated like that and I will miss it all but it was time to call it a day and the hard
decision was made a while ago and I have no regrets about it.

Right that is the shortened version of what’s gone on here and that’s where I will leave it
but I must mention how great it was for the three of us to meet up with Ned and Jerry along
with Albie from Italy at the brilliant Alamo Re-Enactment at Weston Park in England over the
two days it took place and the great time that was had by all.

So once again can we wish you all and your families a very

“ Happy, Healthy & Prosperous New Year “

and have a great 2018 and whatever plans you all have may they all come to fruition and all
of you who will be attending HHD’s in March have a great time we will miss you all and we
will be thinking of you all.

Take care & God bless you all

Gill, Mo & Charlotte

I´m glad to hear Charlotte´s and Mo´s health issues are under control and that both of them feel better. Too bad, your shoulder is´nt back to normal yet, but hopefully it´ll get better as time goes by.
Congratulations with your retirement! Now you´re free to do whatever you want to do. No more alarm clocks ringing in the morning either. To quote Martin Luther King, "Free, free at last!" :D

these are some of her Dad’s favourite photographs of her

Better news from Mo & Gill just now:

After a very long and sleepless night I am pleased to let you know that the river at last has gone down
( photo to follow later ) but sadly two houses down the road from us did get flooded and some roads in
the area are still closed due to the flooding yesterday but no more rain is forecast until tomorrow but
we hope that will allow the river to go down even more.

So for now that is it

Best wishes

Thanks for posting the image and the update Ned

Yesterday was really scary here in Talybont as we suffered from over an inch and a half of heavy rain and
we honestly thought here we go again after nearly six years of relative calm living side by side with our river
but thankfully the rain stopped and even though there were a couple of properties did get some water in the
rest of our part of the village were left unscathed thankfully and we all consider ourselves very lucky this time.

Anyway what a difference a day makes the photograph below was taken just now virtually at the same time as
the one above yesterday and what a nice view
it makes.

Regards

Gill & Mo
