Jack and Chris at the Ft. Worth Stockyards

Postby cc nolen on Thu Aug 24, 2017 4:03 pm

Well, I'm giving fair warning. Linda and I are headed to Ft Worth Texas this coming week end. :D Saturday morning Jack will head up
a wild gunfight and of course drive the Longhorns through the Stockyards....No! he already told me I am not allowed to bring my pistol! :o ...
We'll try to get some good photos, but I'm no where close to Kristi or Ned in that field.
Chris...
(PS: PRAY!)

Be sure and see the western art museum downtown. It was put together by the Basses and admission is free. Nice original Russells and Remingtons.

We made it back yesterday around 3:pm. All is well. We lost the Posse around the Sabine River, and then the rain hit around Shreveport, so it was an interesting trip home! *** Pictures to come.
(And I already know we should have brought Ned and Kristi to take photos!)

Jack and I spent hours in his Den looking at knives. He had gone down to his Bank Vault and brought out some of the best looking hand made knives I have ever seen. The Girls got bored and went shopping in downtown Ft Worth.

Yeah, those Longhorns had some mass to them. Some were six feet at the shoulder. They were close enough to touch. :o

I love those long horns. I wonder if they don´t get in the way in some situations - for the critter, that is.

Ever heard of white supremacists? :D

Great looking knife the one you´re holding! The one Jack´s holding ain´t too shabby either.

Did they serve Pink Elephant liquor? :D

Great, great pictures! Fort Worth needs a Running of the Longhorns - would make Pamplona runners look as brave as Curling contestants.

Hans, I didnt see any Nazis in the Stock Yards. I'm sure if anyone fooled with the statue of Bill Tillman they would take them out back and string them up. These folks were mighty friendly, but I dont think any of those idiots would fare very well at the Stockyards in Ft Worth Texas, USA. :D

I remember the Cattleman Steakhouse with fondness. Haven't been there since October, 2006 with Jack Davy, and Mo. Wish I could've been there with this crowd of
good folks. (Who else was invited?)

It seems I have to make a slight correction here. That statue depicts pro rodeo hall of famer Bill PICKETT. Pickett was best known because he introduced "bulldogging" which evolved into the steer wrestling event in rodeos today. Bill TILGHMAN (not TILLMAN) was a legendary U. S. Marshal who cleaned up the Indian Territory along with Chris Madsen, Heck Thomas, and Reuben Cogburn.
