Outside Das Grosse Zelt. I reckon the crowds are really growing now, as I type this.
Hope you've enjoyed this little look at this year's Wurstfest.

As you entered Wurstfest yesterday, some of the Opas were handing out these Veterans
Day Badges. Guess I should've left them for the veterans, but I did not see what it was
until later.

Your pictures are always great, and they keep getting better. I like that, as usual, you included one of your lunch. Always makes me hungry. Looks like it was a great Wurstfest, a lot of fun. Was there a mosquito problem at all?
Good for you, getting the "Saluting America's Veterans" badge. That's a good thing to do. I'm not a Veteran, but I salute them, too.

It does look like a fun event. So were people dancing to the polka band? And the food does indeed look good.

Perhaps the recent "Killer Clown" scare has affected all real clowns?

It could well be the recent "Killer Clown" scare that made them do away with the clown.
Here´s what he used to look like:

Thanks, all.

Connie, as the evening progressed, more people got up to dance. There were a few old-timers who did dance early on when I was there,
but the young people were only starting to arrive as I was leaving.

No mosquito problems at all, Richard. The days this week have been breezy and only in the mid-60's. Fall seems to have officially arrived at last.

Hans, regarding the second floor of the Stelzenhaus, it's a restaurant and folks are seated, eating.

Today is the last day of Wurstfest. After 3:00 PM, entry is free, so there's bound to be huge crowds.

Glad to hear that the old timers were dancing -- they can be the most fun to watch. I remember years ago going to a polka festival in the Hudson Valley in New York State. There were some older (than me) folks there who had obviously been dancing the polka together for many many years and they were doing some fabulous moves!

I am going to miss my fest photos once Photobucket pulls the plug on my account.

Today was opening day of Wurstfest in New Braunfels. It being free until 6:00PM, I managed to arrive at 5:15PM and then found a seat in the "Little Tent" where Terry
Cavanagh & The Alpine Express were set to perform. Other bands on the bill today included the Alex Meixner Band and Dike Bayrischen Hiatamadln, a new band from
Bavaria. While two members of the fest-favorite band Die Bayrische 7 were included in the lineup, my favorite singer, Esther Yvonne (seen on the billboard in this photo)
was not one of them. Missed seeing her, as we are Facebook friends.

While it is customary for me to have a wurst at the Wurstfest, I opted instead for a smoked turkey leg. Was it ever good! Smoky, crispy, sizzling skin and moist and
tender meat. Even though the drumstick was wrapped in a wax bag, it still burned my hand.

An institution at Wurstfest. No Wurstfest without Terry Cavanagh and Alpine Express. Terry is a great front man.

A pre-Thanksgiving turkey drumstick. It does look delicious.
