I'm happy that you think so and have come up with the millions necessary. Let me know when we're starting. Oh, and you have to buy the ranch from Jamie first.

The last 20 years have been rough on the place.
At one time I had talked to Rich about a purchase and restoration....but this all hinged on a lot of things happening. Then all of a sudden the price of Oil went to the bottom and all exploration I was involved in shut down. So, with that....my idea to finance Rich and have him restore the Alamo halted. :(
Stagecoach rides, shoot outs, and even a train are just dreams ... now.
Yes Davy....the pink hump would have gone!!!

I dreamed of these things, too. About when Clint took these pictures, after one of my own visits to Alamo Village, I got out a yellow legal pad and began making a list of all the things I'd like to see, including repairs, restorations, improvements and additions. I wrote down what I thought the cost of each item might be, giving cost figures with large plus and minus variations, based on my limited knowledge and guessing about what those costs could be. Added to that is the operational costs including maintenance, insurance and labor just to keep it going.
Based upon the total of those wild guesstimates, and still being faced with the problem Alamo Village has always had as a tourist destination, i.e., it's too far away from San Antonio or any other travel hub, it was clear that it could only be paid for by people with deep pockets who considered it an expensive labor of love rather than an investment that paid off in money. That would take a lot of love and a lot of money from someone who doesn't love money.
I'm thankful that I got to visit Alamo Village so many times, as a foot loose and fancy free young man, as a family man bringing my wife and kids, and as a grandfather with young grandsons and their dads.
It's great to have met "The Toughest Man in Town", too.

Everything we all think is entirely possible, no matter what shape the village is in. it has been reviewed, evaluated and estimated. It's just a question of funding.

I've been to Alamo Village twice. Once, with Kevin Young in 1981, when the Alamo was in pretty poor shape. My brother and I stole a piece of the north wall stockade for Don Clark! We returned in 1998 or 99 (age!) and found it in much better shape. Thanks to POF! As much as I would love to get down there one more time, I doubt that will ever happen. For a retiree raising a grandson, the finances just don't stretch! At least we have great pictures like the ones just posted and our own memories. I just want to thank all of you guys for this site. It's a hoot and it keeps "The Alamo" alive!
