Cool shots, Kevin. Helps me understand what's *underneath the skin* of the reconstructed Waynamo.

Rogermoe-Roger certainly would enjoy that: between dealing with Bill Bissell and Happy, plus the money folks at Alamo Productions and Rivertheatre Ascs. he had his hands full...

I remember we had an Alamo Village visitor come up and just twist off on Roger and I about how we were messing up something that John Wayne had built. We tried to explain to him that a lot of other folks had messed up the set before us--including Wayne on a bulldozer and John Ford for "Two road Together" but he just stormed off mad...or maybe he wanted us to paint it pink?

Here is a shot I took during one of the History Channel shots-just look to good to miss:

Happy used to get the same thing. One day, while I was on the street in the late 80's, an old carmudgin stormed up to me and demanded to "see the owner!"

I called Happy and he buzzed down in his gray pickup. He strode up to the disgruntled gentleman, held his hand out and said, "Hi! My name's Shahan. What's the problem?"

"I think it's blaspheme," he stormed, "that you are letting the Cradle of Texas Liberty go to seed like this!"

Happy smiled and offered to give him a tour of the MOVIE SET.

Back in 1987, just a couple of months after ALAMO : The Price Of Freedom had wrapped, I returned to Alamo Village for a photo shoot
of the set. While most of the set dressing had already been removed, the buildings were just as Roger Ragland had recreated them.
The following photos are prints that I had made from slides yesterday so that I could share them here. Enjoy:

Note the new west wall gate Happy Shahan had installed. During filming, this gap had been plugged by a 'wild wall' which could be removed
in order to allow large equipment to be brought inside the compound.

" No Problemo Ned " a pleasure as always

The one I really like is the one looking down from Parsons Hill overlooking
the " Waynamo Set " and it always reminds of the first time I saw it from
there and what came into my mind straight away was this:

" You'd Better Take Another Look Theres A Lot Of People Moving In There " !!!!

Wow great memories Ned.
